 Overview

The goal of the regional WAN is to provide high-speed broadband services to the twelve counties the IU consortium serves. Since receiving the grant in December of 2006, the focus of the project has been on creating the physical infrastructure necessary to connect the region.

Now that the infrastructure phase is complete, the IUs are concentrating on implementation and usage. To highlight the next phase of the consortium project, the LEARN acronym has been adopted.  LEARN stands for Leading Educational Achievement through the Regional Network.

 Upcoming Events and Announcements

The IU LEARN team is working with various vendors and higher education to develop a directory of LEARN programs and services to enhance district curriculum using the WAN.  The LEARN Middle School Academy for social studies and science teachers was quite successful.  Check the Calendar of Events for academies in language arts and math coming Spring 2009, as well as many other activities.

In December, we will sponsor a Freedom Calls Event for the community.  This videoconference experience connects families and loved ones in our region to soldiers in Iraq.  The Freedom Calls organization can help us facilitate connections with soldiers at Camp Taji, Al Asad Air Base, Camp Fallujah, Camp Victory (Baghdad) and Camp Taqaddum. Please see the Calendar of Events for more details.
